Too cheap or too lazy to land Guitar Hero or Rock Band? Fear not! There’s now a free, online Web site that’s promising similar game play – without requiring any additional equipment or even a game console!
JamLegend lets you rock out with an internet connection and a keyboard.
Much like the previously mentioned video games, you select a song, a difficulty level, and then match notes – in this case, using your keyboard.
Feeling rebellious? Rock out ‘jam style,’ holding your keyboard like a guitar. At the office? Take it ease with ‘chill style’ – your keyboard stays where it is. If you need an authentic guitar feel, you can plug in many game guitars to your computer.
The biggest problem facing the site right now is a pretty crappy song selection. However, given the fact that you can battle your friends remotely and a Facebook/MySapce app is on the way, the traffic – and therefore the bands – might follow.
JamLegend is currently in private beta.
If you really want to get an invite, twitter “@JamLegend I want http://www.JamLegend.com” or become a fan on Facebook. We will randomly send out invites to users who twitter or are fans.
I tried it and I sucked! However, I’m pretty wicked good at Guitar Hero. Perhaps it was my internet connection. Check it out for yourself. The site is free, for now…
