POD Book Shows ’56 Broken Kindle Screens’

56 Broken Kindle Screens – Silvio Lorusso and Sebastian Schmieg (2012) from Silvio Lorusso on Vimeo.
You often hear about eBooks being made available as print on demand books, but digital artists Sebastian Schmieg and Silvio Lorusso have connected the two media in a new way. They have created a print on demand book project called 56 Broken Kindle Screens, which is a photo book that documents the downside to eBooks, broken eReaders.

Here is more about the book: “The book takes as its starting point the peculiar aesthetic of broken E Ink displays and serves as an examination into the reading device’s materiality. As the screens break, they become collages composed of different pages, cover illustrations and interface elements.”

The POD book is available from Lulu.com and its currently on sale for $4.90. We’re embedded a video of the project above. (Via BoingBoing).
