Pope Benedict XVI has launched a YouTube channel to better connect with the digital generation. The channel, found at YouTube.com/vaticanit should not be confused with with YouTube.com/popebenedict, a site created by a 22-year-old in England.
In fact, the Vatican launched the channel in part to have some control over the pontiff’s image. “It’s undeniable that certain images are already circulating,” said Monsignor Claudio Maria Celli, who heads up the Vatican’s social communications office.
Celli likens the channel to the pontiff’s pilgrimages around the world, in which he meets with millions of the faithful.
