Possibly 60% of Xoom Tablets Shipped May Still Be Sitting on Shelves

Earlier this week I commented on an analyst’s estimate that only 25,000 to 120,000 Motorola Xoom Android tablets had been sold.

Are Android Tablets a “Bag of Hurt” Too? Maybe Not

During the first week of April, I wrote:

Estimated 100,000 Motorola Xoom Tablets Sold: Indication of Flop or Success?

So, how do these numbers in somewhat of an agreement (about 100,000 units sold) relate to these numbers reported by mocoNews that come directly from Motorola?

Updated: Motorola Shipped 250,000 Xooms and 4.1 Million Smartphones In Q1

The key word in this latest report is “shipped”. The first two reports were about units sold to paying customers. The number from Motorola reported by mocoNews are the units shipped from Motorola to phone companies and retailers who attempt to sell them to customers.

If earlier reports of 100,000 Xoom tablets being sold is accurate, then 60% of the units shipped (150,000) remain in inventory.
