Last week I had the opportunity to speak with the NutshellMail co-founders, Mark Schmulen and David Lyman, about building their company and the quick exit to ConstantContact. While we had a long conversation, I’ve cut down the interview to 7 key points that we covered during our conversation. There are some great takeaways for entrepreneurs looking to build their own businesses.
Here are the key points that we covered:
- How the company got started
- How the team got a mansion to work from for half-price
- Using metrics to iterate quickly and build a product that customers love
- The entrepreneurial lifestyle
- Why the team moved out to Silicon Valley
- The importance of optimism and pivots
This is my first shot at editing a video interview so their are some small editing issues but hopefully by next time I’ll have worked out all the bugs! Over the coming weeks we’ll be posting more interviews from companies and individuals that we’re speaking to in the bay area and elsewhere!
