It was developed for an NSA secure mobile device program and certified for voice communications classified as Top Secret and classified for access to email and website classified as Secret (Note: Back when I was a DoD contractor the classification sequence was Unclassified, Confidential, Secret, Top Secret, “don’t ask” :-) . Obama’s BlackBerry

According to the article, the NSA is modifying a BlackBerry 8830 for the President’s classified communication. It will replace the Sectera Edge that apparently piggy-backs with a conventional BlackBerry to secure it.
