Qualcomm Snapdragon Single Core 2GHz & Dual-Core 1.5GHz Processors in Phones by Year-end?

This item from the ComputerWorld about a 1.5GHz Snapdragon dual-core processor seems pretty exciting

until you recall this item also from ComputerWorld from way back in June.

Motorola exec boasts of 2 GHz processor coming to Android

I assume the 2GHz chip is a single core processor. But, still, wouldn’t it be funny (in a good way) if the single core 2GHz chip became associated with “low-end” smartphones?

Both processors appear to scheduled around the time Android OS 3.0 will be available. Nice!
