Random House is taking its popular Facebook app BookScout — a tool that lets readers share their favorite books and get personalized book recommendations – and optimizing it for mobile devices. The release comes after the publisher recently optimized the app for tablets and added social-sharing features.

In addition, the publisher has added a seasonal book recommendations tool to help readers find new reads. The “Summer Reads” recommendations list includes: And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini, Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman, and Paperboy by Vince Vawter.

The app, which lets readers share their favorite reads from any publisher, has been catching on. Here is more from the press release:
Since BookScout’s launch this January, the number the people using the app has more than doubled to over 6,000, primarily in the United States and as far as Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany and India.  BookScout continues to see a high engagement rate with over 80,000 actions taken in the app, creating 1.3 million stories shared on Facebook. The app currently includes over three million titles across all publishers.
