In today’s “that oughta show ‘em” category, British music industry major EMI wants to cut its funding to the industry’s trade bodies, a source familiar with the situation told Reuters on Wednesday. The move could deal a blow to the fight against music piracy.

Remember that EMI is the only major label that’s selling unprotected (DRM-free) versions of their music tracks across all major online music stores, including on Apple’s iTunes Store, the dominant player with 75 percent market share online.

The RIAA, and by extension the major record labels, have completely ruined their image with music fans over the past several years due tp an overly aggressive stance against piracy.
