We’re at the point where we’re sick of hearing about SafeNet, a.k.a. MediaSentry, the RIAA’s unlicensed investigator that has gone after everyone from dead grandmothers to, well, innocent people in attempting to curb piracy. (Well, not really curb piracy so much as extract money.)
Slashdot reports that (as you may remember) MediaSentry is being investigated by Michigan’s Department of Labor and Economic Growth for conducting said investigations without a license—but now you can also add ‘making contradictory and false statements to the government’s investigators’ to the list.
“Well apparently this didn’t deter MediaSentry from simply continuing its practice of conducting ‘investigations’ without a license. In Michigan, no less. We have learned from court papers filed in Michigan that the practice continued for months after the DLEG had begun questioning the practice.” Lying? MediaSentry? We’ve never heard that before.
