The global market for mobile rich media advertising will bring in some $2.79 billion in annual revenue by 2012, a new report from Screen Digest forecasts. Ads on mobile TV services will be responsible for nearly all of it, at $2.44 billion.
In the same time frame, advertising will come to account for 20% of mobile TV revenues, with Japan, South Korea and other regions that offer free mobile TV services offering the richest markets for advertisers, according to a Cellular-news article on the research.
While television will create a great mobile advertising platform, Screen Digest expects games, user-generated content and music to deliver disappointing ad revenue even as they present new marketing opportunities for content owners.
