We recently had a chance to see Samsung’s Bada platform running on one of their LED TVs at the Casual Connect conference. We were shown the user interface for users to browse applications (the television was wired to an ethernet connection, no wireless yet) and saw a demonstration of a quick, quirky game. The word on the street these days is that while television companies thought that this would be the year of 3D TVs, Google’s announcement of Google TV has changed everything. TVs are now all about apps.
The real race will be about creating a platform and app store so that viewers can easily download and play with applications from the comfort of their living room. We’ve looked at this before and the real challenge is making it easy to use. It’s also important that the ‘lean back’ factor is maintained, which is an important consideration for the living room TV experience. Check out the app store and sample game in the below video and let us know what you think!
