There are several ways to describe Secondbrain. You could take it as a lifestreaming service, a content management system (CMS) for your online content, or you could call it as a content aggregator. But whatever you wish to call or take it, the fact is Secondbrain is a pretty cool online tool/service with a dash of collaborative or social networking flavor.
Secondbrain‘s founder wants you to use its services to “to collect, organize, search and share all your web content in a single library.”Specifically, you may use Secondbrain to
- Import content from all your favorite services such as Flicrk, Delicious, YouTube, Google Docs and many others
- After importing your content, you can browse and search for them
- Organize and categorize your content into collections
- Keep track of your content in a single library
- Share your lifestream with friends and other Secondbrain members
- Find people through content, and content through people
In other words, Secondbrain lets you personalize, socialize, use services, discover content and reach/interact/socialize with the whole web community in one single online service. If you have a Second Life, you might as well have a Secondbrain, right?
The best way to summarize what Secondbrain is by the words of its founder saying that Secondbrain is “a platform promotes not only personal knowledge building, but a communal knowledge filtering and suggestion…”
And yes, registering for a Secondbrain account takes only 15 seconds.
