ShortForm.tv Streams Web Video Playlists So You Can Sit Back & Relax

ShortFormTV LogoToday a new website, ShortForm.tv, was launched that makes it easy for viewers to sit back and watch a continuous stream of web video content without the hassle of searching. ShortForm.tv is operating under a goal of making web video viewing more like television viewing, and brings viewers a number of “channels” that stream popular video content in a variety of categories, including funny, cute, weird and Facebook hits. ShortForm.tv’s motto is “We Search, You Watch.” Just sit back and relax while the platform brings you the best of online web video.

In a press release announcing the launch of ShortForm.tv today, the company’s CEO and co-founder Nader Ghaffari explains the idea behind the new platform:

“While the number of online video viewers continues to steadily rise, it remains time consuming for the average person to sort through the millions of videos on social sites to find the hidden gems. ShortForm.tv does the work for you. We find the best video clips on the web throughout the day and add them to our themed channels. If you don’t like a clip, you can simply click ahead to the next one. And when you find a clip you like, you can save it to you’re my Channel, curating your own Channel of video clips as you go.”

So how does ShortForm.tv put it’s playlists together? The best of the best in online video is discovered by the company’s Smart Curation process, which is a mix of technology and human curation. The technological side aggregates a variety of online video sources, including Facebook, YouTube and Vimeo and picks out the most popular and viral videos. User feedback is also taken into consideration when it comes to determining whether or not a clip will remain in a specific stream. Users can give a thumbs up or thumbs down to a clip or skip to the next video, as well as share clips with friends via Facebook, Twitter, Digg or email. ShortForm.tv users can also create their own streams with all of their favorite web videos using the My Channel function. Check out the screenshot below.

You may be thinking to yourself, what makes ShortForm.tv so special? YouTube has been giving users the opportunity to create and watch play lists for years now. On YouTube you can do a search for “Funny Cats” and find literally tens of thousands of funny cat video playlists and there are playlists of videos on virtually every topic you can think of.

However, ShortForm.tv takes the best of the best in the world of short online video clips and changes up their playlists on a daily basis so you know you are being served up quality video clips. It will be interesting to see how the platform will unfold as more users give feedback and they perfect their Smart Curation process.
