SnapTell has launched its Mobile Movie Explorer application that lets consumers use their camera phone snap a picture of a DVD cover, send the picture to SnapTell via MMS messaging and receive a return message with information about the movie.
The service provides movie descriptions, reviews, running time, if the DVD has any cool extras and, for consumers who don’t want to lug the DVD around on the rest of their shopping trip, it even sends a link to Amazon.com where they can buy it electronically.
SnapTell already has tens of thousands of images in its database and keeps adding more.
“We are pushing the technology to new limits,” said SnapTell CEO Gautam Bhargava. “The unprecedented accuracy of our solution allows consumers to receive information for almost any movie, when and where they want it.”
