Skype for Android Update Hints Android OS 2.2 Update May be Available Soon for Verizon Phones

My Droid had notifications of updates for a bunch of app a few days ago. One of the apps was Skype for Android. The update information said that the update provided Froyo (Android OS 2.2) compatibility. This is interesting since Skype only runs on Android phones sold through Verizon and none of these phones have had 2.2 update provided so far.

Could this be an indication that the long awaited Froyo update for the Droid will be available soon? I sure hope so.
