Snoox Brings Their Social Recommendations Platform To Mobile

Back in November we introduced you to Snoox, a new social recommendation service with a Pinterest-vibe that lets you share recommendations with your friends.  Today, backed by $2 million in funding, the company is launching a new mobile app on both iOS and Android.

The Snoox mobile app lets users access location-based recommendations from friends on the go—instead of browsing recommendations from complete strangers, Snoox lets you find recommendations from people you know and trust…on “anything from aftershaves to zoos,” as the company states in their FAQ.

Snoox founder Guy Poreh says in a press release, “With our mobile app, we set the goal of bringing all of the best elements of Snoox to your phone, and to then take that experience to the next level with unique features for mobile devices.  We think that our mobile app gives users a whole new way to use Snoox, to recommend the things they love, and to find recommendations from their friends.  It’s now easier than ever to find something new, add a great image, and to recommend it to all your friends.  All of it on the go.  Wherever. Whenever.”

In addition to location-based search that let you discover recommendations for places and venues in your area, the Snoox mobile app allows you to upload photos, easily create recommendations based on your current location and has redesigned the service to optimize it for mobile.

Unfortunately there don’t seem to be many people using Snoox in my area, so a search for nearby locations didn’t yield a whole lot of results, but I imagine that as more users embrace Snoox this could be a pretty cool way to discover local venues, in addition to books, movies, music, TV shows, travel and, well, even kitchen sinks!
