The Worst Social Media Blunders Of All Time [Infographic]

Today 90 percent of small businesses are using social media, along with countless major brands and celebrities.  Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other social media sites can be a great way to connect with your customers and fans, but what happens when your social media activity goes awry?  MDG Advertising takes a look at some of the biggest celebrity and business social media blunders in an entertaining new infographic.

The infographic, “Social Media Blunders,” reveals some of the biggest celebrity and business snafus of all time to illustrate that “fans and customers alike can get more than they bargained for with social media.”  The infographic features celebrities like Ashton Kutcher and Anthony Weiner, businesses like Kenneth Cole and others, describing the mistake, what happened, and the result.

While most of these social media blunders ended badly for the celebs and businesses involved, MDG is quick to point out that, “surprisingly, some social media mistakes end up having positive results.”  The Red Cross is used as an example at the bottom of the infographic.  MDG says, “With proper execution, social media offers celebrities, athletes, and businesses a chance to make a positive impact, while inviting fan and customer interaction that wouldn’t exist otherwise.  Preventing mistakes should be a priority, but even when things go wrong, a professional recovery can help minimize the damage.”
