Twitter Friday announced a new tweet activity analytics dashboard for advertisers, Twitter card publishers and verified users that shows them detailed data on how their organic tweets are doing. While Twitter previously offered this level of detail for promoted tweets, the new analytics features allow users to see what kind of engagement their normal tweets are getting. TechCrunch The new dashboard includes data like total impressions, total engagements and engagement rates for each tweet, and also aggregates that data for the past month, showing you how you’ve been doing compared to past months. Twitter’s Buster Benson wrote that Twitter also looked at the data for “200 active brand advertisers” and found some patterns — one of the big messages was just to tweet often. Mashable The updated analytics tool is clearly intended to make the social network even more enticing to brands and influential Twitter users by showing exactly how users are engaging with their tweets in real-time. If Twitter did choose to provide a tool like this to average users, it could prove that users’ tweets are being seen even if they aren’t being retweeted hundreds or thousands of times. Marketing Land Giving marketers access to more robust organic analytics can be seen as a catch-up move; Facebook has long offered similar data for page posts in its Insights dashboard. It also is a thinly veiled shot across Facebook’s bow, considering the marketers’ frustration about Facebook’s News Feed algorithm throttling organic reach. PC Magazine The new impressions metric tells you how many times your tweet has been viewed on Twitter’s Android and iOS apps, or on Twitter.com. You can view the total impressions on a tweet, and even see an hour-by-hour breakdown for the first day.
