
Social networking was a popular topic at the Personal Democracy Forum’s PdF Conference Monday, as it was the focus of presentations by Ning.com founder Gina Bianchini and Harvard researcher Danah Boyd, sister blog FishbowlNY reported.
Bianchini discussed Ning’s benefits for grassroots organizing, nonprofit organizations and “everyday people,” and then Boyd shared results from her study on why teen-agers chose Facebook over MySpace, calling the move from the latter to the former the “modern incarnation of white flight” and saying, “MySpace has become the ghetto of the digital landscape.”
