The CEO of Sony BMG Music Entertainment said the company is developing an online music subscription service that would give users unlimited access to its music and be compatible with a host of digital music players, according to The Associated Press this morning.
Sony BMG’s artist roster includes newcomers like Leona Lewis, along with stalwarts like Alicia Keys and Celine Dion, as well as country singer Carrie Underwood among others, the report said.
At the same time, we can’t help but wonder where Sony is going now. Let’s review: recently they shut down their poor-performing Connect Music Store, set up a deal with Thumbplay, and finally announced they’re removing DRM from their music tracks. They’ve also demonstrated serious confusion over what exactly piracy is, and they lost track of their separate PSP online store. We’re not enthused about this latest venture, if you can’t already tell.
