Speculation: iPhone 3.0 Includes 802.11n and Video Recording

Lots of interesting speculation about what the next iPhone based on the iPhone 3.0 OS will have. MacRumors and other sites have been saying that two of the new features will be support for the faster 802.11n wireless LAN protocol as well as video recording and editing…

Next Gen iPhone: 802.11n and Video Editing?

Video recording has been a feature that many of us have wanted for the iPhone for a long time. Every other smartphone already can record video in one form or another (some better than others).

I’m a bit puzzled by the inclusion of 802.11n though. 802.11n is not widely available in public hotspots. In fact, I don’t think I’ve even seen the slower 802.11g at a public hotspot. And, I’m not sure what its usefulness would be in the home except for video streaming or downloading. This would be useful for people who want to download a TV show or movie at home without tethering their iPhone to a Mac or PC.
