SponsorPay Raises $5M, Sets Eyes On Mobile

Internationally focused ad platform SponsorPay has just raised a Series A2 funding round of $5M from Nokia Growth Partners as well as existing investors as it prepares to broaden its horizons to mobile. More after the jump.

SponsorPay offers a turnkey solution for partners that handles campaign optimization, billing, fraud prevention and customer support. SponsorPay’s efforts to date have been focused on monetizing web and virtual worlds and now will shift more towards the emerging mobile market. SponsorPay will offer SDK’s to developers to integrate in major smartphone platforms which provides services such as app installs, surveys, trials, lead generation and videos.

Both SponsorPay and Nokia Growth Partners are excited about this mobile expansion. Bo Ilsoe, a partner from NGP, sees SponsorPay as a leader in monetizing an international audience through a high quality user experience and a range of services. It’s an exciting time to focus on an international audience, especially as markets like Brazil are expected to double their virtual goods sales by 2014.

“Our mobile services address two major challenges for developers – performance-based distribution and monetization of price-‐sensitive users. SponsorPay’s proven strengths are excellent partnership development and high quality localization. These are in our DNA and will help us succeed in the mobile space as well,” said Janis Zech, CRO and Co-Founder at SponsorPay.

SponsorPay’s results have been stellar so far. In August of last year we reported SponsorPay boosting virtual world Smeet’s offer revenues by 60% while converting 21% of non-paying customers into paying ones. SponsorPay did this by integrating banners and interactive promotional avatars that were placed in various parts of the virtual world. SponsorPay also partnered with the likes of Lolapps and King.com last year in July to help monetize their traffic outside of the US. SponsorPay has also been a unique monetization platform for VZNet Group’s social network, a popular European social network with 16.5 MMAUs.

Last year in June SponsorPay announced a funding round of ~$5M after acquiring competitor GratisPay in February earlier in 2010. The GratisPay acquisition makes the duo the strongest leading CPA provider for social games in Europe especially when it comes to transparency and quality.

Congratulations to the SponsorPay team.
