Spotify Confirms that It’s Rolling Out a Browser-Based Web Player

Spotify is taking its music library to the cloud. The Verge has reported –and Spotify has confirmed — that the social music site is rolling out a browser-based web player.

A Spotify spokesman explained that the company is testing a beta version of the Spotify web player with a small number of users. “Potentially, it’s a great additional feature for times you can’t play music through the desktop app, like at work or at a friend’s house,” he told SocialTimes via email. “We’ll have more detail on the web player next year.”

Currently, Spotify users have to download an app to their desktops, Kindle, iOS or Android devices to use the service.
