Starbucks To Offer Free iPhone App of the Week

Starbucks, the coffee giant, is offering paid iPhone Apps for free to its customers. So next time you visit Starbucks make sure to grab the App on the menu for that week.

Starbucks and Apple started their relationship back in 2007 with a Pick of the Week program that gives away an iTunes single each week. With the success of pick of the week, Starbucks is branching out into iPhone Apps. For the first week, Starbucks is offering Shazam Encore (iTunes), a music-identifying app that sells for $5.99 in the U.S. version of the App Store for free. There’s no word from Starbucks and Apple on what apps will be selected for offers in the future, but it looks like the customers can expect to get 52 free apps a year from Starbucks. With higher app prices, the new Pick of the Week App will be an excellent deal for the customers.

Just like for the free music, the Pick of the Week App can be found on a promo card at the cash register at your local Starbucks store. The card comes with a onetime use codes which can be redeemed in the iTunes App store for a free download.
