Starwood Hotels and Resorts Reserves Social-Media Apps

StarwoodPreferredGuest.jpgStarwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide is checking into the social-media arena, launching applications on Facebook, Twitter and the Apple iPhone via its Starwood Preferred Guest program to give guests at its hotels and resorts, including the Sheraton and Westin chains, information on local restaurants and entertainment, Inside Facebook reported.

Buddy Media developed SPG TripShare, Starwood’s Facebook application, which lets users add up to five photos to a central, searchable album, with the photos tagged for easy search, according to Inside Facebook.

Starwood’s Twitter application teams up with Google Maps to offer reviews of local restaurants and attractions. And the company’s iPhone app allows guests to check reservation information and Starwood accounts.
