As eBook sales for Stieg Larsson‘s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo have skyrocketed into the millions, plans for a movie are underway. Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgard is negotiating for one of the main roles.
GalleyCat reports: “Actor Stellan Skarsgard is negotiating with Columbia Pictures to join the cast of David Fincher’s adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. The Swedish native is eying the role of Martin Vanger, one member of a troubled family haunted for 40 years by the disappearance of a teenage girl.”
The actor, who has starred in everything from Lars Von Trier’s Breaking the Waves and Dancer in the Dark to episodes of Entourage, told Variety: “Most of it is to be shot in Stockholm, but some studio work will be done in the U.S. I think there might be some location work there as well, when it becomes too dark to shoot here.”
I wonder if there will be an enhanced eBook with clips from the film in it.
