Social Media Romance: A StumbleUpon Wedding Proposal

Nothing tugs on our heartstrings quite like a romantic social media marriage proposal, whether it’s an epic viral video proposal, a Twitter marriage proposal or any other showcase of love on the social web.  In the latest record of a social media proposal, 25-year old Tyrel from Wyoming asked his girlfriend Marquita to marry him through none other than StumbleUpon!

How did Tyrel do it?  According to a post on the StumbleUpon blog, Tyrel got in touch with the social discovery engine’s community team and they were able to set up a special stumble session for Marquita, ending in Tyrel’s proposal.  At a specified date and time, Marquita got online and started stumbling.  She stumbled through a funny couple cartoon, some awesome zombie-themed wedding photos, a video of Mishka the talking dog saying ‘I Love You’, a graphic of the words ‘Say yes!’, and finally, a blog post proposal in which Tyrel is holding up a number of signs asking Marquita to marry him.

Tyrel told StumbleUpon that the discovery site was a big part of their relationship.  They “stumbled upon” it through a news article and Tyrel said, “We found ourselves sharing some of our best moments laughing and enjoying great sites we would find together on StumbleUpon.”  Of course, Marquita said “yes” to Tyrel’s proposal.

Marquita told StumbleUpon, “I couldn’t believe it when all of the sudden we stumble on this website with a picture of this guy with the exact same eyes as Ty.  You couldn’t see his whole face in the first picture.  After that I knew what it was and just lost it.  Then I said, ‘Yes, of course!’”

You can check out Marquita’s reaction as she stumbles on Tyrel’s marriage proposal in the video below.  What do you think about the idea of a StumbleUpon proposal?  Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
