An interesting and rather clever social media move by Pepsi was buying competitive keywords that resulted YouTube searches for “Coca-Cola” generating a sponsored link to the Pepsi polar bear spot. Of course, Coca-Cola retaliated and searches were redirected to coca-cola.com.

For the second year in a row, potential contestants for NBC reality competition hit America’s Got Talent can submit videos via YouTube.
A few months ago, America’s Got Talent announced that they would be searching for talent for their upcoming season on YouTube and tomorrow night twelve online video stars will make their television debuts on the show’s YouTube edition on NBC. The winning YouTubers that will appear on America’s Got Talent tomorrow night include an accordion playing dog, a pizza dough juggling extraordinaire, a rope jumper, a magician, a 10-year old opera singer and more. When Susan Boyle’s ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ video hit the streams a year ago she started a couple of new trends. Boyle’s video began the YouTube craze for videos of people with surprising talent, but that’s not all. Her video also opened the door for ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ to rise to the top of the YouTube charts. While no other performers from Britain’s Got Talent have achieved the massive success of Susan Boyle, the show is consistently represented in the popular and most-viewed categories on YouTube, especially since the show’s new season started up again this month.
