Animator Cyriak, who achieved YouTube fame for his trippy cows & cows & cows and Baaa animations has just released his latest creation and it’s proving that cat videos don’t have to be cute to go viral.

Singer Kina Grannis, who got her start on YouTube, is rocking the world of stop motion animation with a new video that went up on her channel earlier this week. The video, which was created over 22 months, took 1,357 hours, 30 people, 2 ladders, 1 still camera and 288,000 jelly beans.

With stop motion practically taking over the Internet, a lot of creative people are being inspired to try this technique out for themselves. But where do you start? We had the opportunity to talk to YouTube partner, filmmaker and stop motion expert Kyle Roberts for some insight, tips and examples.

Back in April George Watsky, one of YouTube’s most popular (not to mention extraordinarily fast) rappers, issued a challenge to graphic designers and video folks to help him make “the ultimate YouTube video.” He issued the challenge on The Ellen Show half a year ago and this week his dream became a reality. YouTuber Jorge of CyberToons uploaded ‘The Ultimate YouTube Video’ just days ago, as envisioned by George Watsky, and it truly is a sight to behold.

To celebrate the grand opening of a new Melissa shoe store in São Paulo, Brazil, twenty-five animators created the largest Post-it stop motion animation the world has ever seen.

On June 16, 2011, Paris-based tattoo artist Karl Marc realized the world’s first animated tattoo. A video of the animated tat, created as part of Ballantine’s Human API campaign on Facebook, is currently climbing the viral charts and is a must-see for lovers of tattoos, animation, and social media alike.
