The founders of companies including social news service Reddit, Web video service Blip.tv college social networking venture 2tor briefed an assembly of 150 high-school and college students from the D.C. area on how to start a business from nothing.

Blip.tv is looking to become more than a blip on the online-video radar screen following its agreement with The Collective’s Collective Digital Studio, which will allow it to distribute and monetize content from Collective creators — including Annoying Orange, FreddieW, Fred, and iJustine — to YouTube and other platforms.

Blip.tv co-founder and chief technology officer Justin Day told Beet.TV founder and executive producer Andy Plesser the online-video site will adopt HTML5 as its standard player for the Web and other platforms, replacing Adobe’s Flash.
Day told Beet.TV HTML5 runs within the browser without a plug-in, and “faster.” Beet.TV uses Blip.tv as its principal video player. Read more
Twitter announced content partnerships with blip.tv, Instagram, Rdio, SlideShare, and Dipdive, as announced in a post on the Twitter Blog by Jodi Olson of its corporate-communications team. Highlights:

Instagram: View mobile photos, personalized with Instagram’s colorful filters.
Rdio: When a subscriber Tweets out a song, you can listen to full-length songs right inside the details pane, for the first time ever.
SlideShare: Read and share entire presentations, directly on Twitter.
Dipdive: See photos, videos and new works from Dipdive’s community of artists.
In the next few months, we’ll integrate with more content partners. For Twitter users, this means that 140 characters can contain a world of multimedia content, and instantly connect you to video, photo, music, and media services all across the Web.

Blip.tv announced some exciting news on their blog today – the online video platform has surpassed 100 million video views per month. The site had a total of 113 million views in October and is on pace to reach 137 million in November.
