NBA.com Debuts Charles Barkley Channel

Barkley_4.17.bmpNBA.com has launched The Barkley Zone, a new video channel featuring exclusive videos of the NBA Hall of Famer turned TNT analyst. The Barkley Zone will be one of five video channels available on NBA.com as part of the site’s new look for the Playoffs which begin tomorrow.

“Our goal is to always offer the fan the most compelling video content across all our digital platforms and Charles is the perfect fit to lead the way for our playoff site with a channel of his own.,” said Bryan Perez, SVP and GM of NBA Digital.

NBA.com Sets Record During All Star Game

NBA Digital announced record-setting numbers for their NBA All-Star 2009 multi-platform coverage. Seven million fans watched coverage online and via mobile devices from Fri, Feb. 13 through Mon., Feb. 16. NBA.com’s NBA All-Star Scene section drew 1.4 million video streams of more than 400 videos.

Turner Sports is also crowing about its ratings for the All Star game on TNT Sunday night. 6.55 million viewers watched, up 26% over last year’s game. It was the most-watched All Star match-up in the 24-year history of the game.

NBA Digital Gets New General Manager

NBA_Mobile_Stats.jpgTurner Broadcasting and the NBA on Monday announced that Bryan Perez will head up NBA Digital as its SVP and general manager, after a months-long search, MediaPost is reporting.

Perez will oversee all day-to-day operations for NBA Digital, including programming, editorials, operations, e-commerce, and promotions, the report said. That includes NBA TV, NBA.com, WNBA.com, NBADLeague.com, NBA League Pass, broadband, and its mobile initiatives and WAP sites.

Perez is a veteran of Live Nation, Clear Channel, and the National Hockey League’s Dallas Stars.
