Neil Ashe Speaks About Leaving CBS Interactive

Neil Ashe, who is leaving his post as president of CBS Interactive, spoke with paidContent about what’s next both for him and his former company. Highlights:

I’ve intentionally kind of not focused on what’s going to be next.

The reality is that there are a lot of talented people at CBSi, and they’re still there.

I’m at the end of my original commitment to these guys, and I feel really good about where CBS Interactive is.

It’s always unfortunate when people lose their jobs, so I’m sensitive to that.

CBSNews.com is at an all-time high in traffic and revenue, and we’ve done groundbreaking partnerships with the rest of the properties.

If I could go back in time, what I would have done is founded Google or Facebook. The stock price bounced around. The performance of the properties did not.

Former President Jimmy Carter Talks WikiLeaks on CBSNews.com’s Washington Unplugged

Former President Jimmy Carter will be the first U.S. president to appear on a broadcast-network politics Webcast when his exclusive interview with CBS News senior White House correspondent Bill Plante runs on Tuesday’s installment of Washington Unplugged on CBSNews.com at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Carter told Plante WikiLeaks’ release of secret government documents is not as damaging to the United States as it is to Iraqis and Afghanis helping the United States abroad, saying, “To have their names revealed as associated with the United States government might put their lives in danger if they are still there, or their families in danger. When you take things like that out of context, I think it helps no one, but hurts diplomatically.”

The former president also spoke about midterm election results, “Republicans’ responsibility,” his advice for President Barack Obama, and his newest book, White House Diary.

An excerpt of the interview aired on CBS Evening News with Katie Couric Monday. And CBS News’ Political Hotsheet offers more on Carter’s take on WikiLeaks.
