5 Fun Apps for Family and Friends on the 4th of July

The Fourth of July is a day of celebration with family and friends. With that said, it is hard for me to imagine the necessity of having a 4th of July app for my mobile device. Instead, I visualize being outside by the pool or in the park playing volleyball, badminton or croquet. I don’t see myself playing on an app with my device. Still, I did find some apps that, if push comes to shove, I’d be obliged to use them.

You may recall Google’s first video doodle celebrating John Lennon’s 70th birthday with an illustrated animation last October. This time, the new Chaplin doodle aims for classic silent-era Chaplin with a mix of slapstick humor, and certainly: the walk, the double-looks, the smile and the mustache.

Are You Ready for Foursquare Day?

The global social media holiday was first recognized on April 16, 2010. Nate Bonilla-Warford, an optometrist from Tampa, Florida thought of the idea after thinking about a simple calculation with “Foursquare”. Bonilla-Warford thought up the idea to “check-in” to Foursquare on the 4th month and 16th day of the year. After contacting the Foursquare headquarters in New York City about the idea, the company officially declared April 16 “Foursquare Day.”
