ABCNews.com Plans for Obama Health Care Conversation

Next Wednesday, ABC News is devoting most of their day to the President’s plans for U.S. health care. It culminates with a one-hour primetime conversation on ABC-TV from the White House moderated by Charlie Gibson and Diane Sawyer.

While he audience in the East Room will be chosen by ABC News, ABCNews.com is inviting all viewers to join the discussion and share their questions about health care reform by going here starting tomorrow.

ABCNews.com will be working with Digg to select popular questions voted on by online users and some of those questions will be put to President Obama during the program. ABC News’ daily political webcast, “Top Line”, will focus on health care reform throughout the week of June 22. ABCNews.com’s senior political reporter Rick Klein, will live-blog and interact with users as the forum airs and full video coverage of the forum will be posted online.

Ballmer On Bing

ABC’s Charlie Gibson fired up his Webcam to interview Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer about his company’s new search engine Bing. (Here’s the CNet review).

Ballmer was only cautiously optimistic that Bing can top Google at its own best game. But Ballmer says he’s certain his company has a clearly different point of view on how to do a web search.

Wolf’s Wonky Reading List: “I Don’t Have A Whole Lot of Time for Fun Reading”

The BookTV channel on YouTube features several clips from politicos and media types as they answer the question, “What are you reading this summer?” It’s part of C-SPAN’s “Summer Reading” interview series which begins this Memorial Day weekend.

Below, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer talks about the five books he’ll be reading – no fiction here, it’s all politics, policy and recent history…except for one book. “I don’t have a whole lot of time for fun reading,” he tells C-SPAN.

ABCNews.com Launches GMA Recipe Site

This morning on ABC’s Good Morning America, chef Emeril Lagasse unveiled a new recipe Website that contains more than 1,000 recipes going back to 1995. Users can search by chef, by type of food or type of meal. There are also a healthy number of vegetarian plates and, of course, GMA anchor favorites, including Charlie Gibson‘s fav: Enchilada Casserole, or as Chipotle might call it: Burrito Bowl. “The Fix” is in at ABC….and WaPo Too

ABC News is expanding its digital only content with the launch of The Fix. The Web show features ABC News correspondents/anchors John Berman, Juju Chang, Dan Harris and Bill Weir, and ESPN’s John Anderson. Andrew Morse, who is also EP of GMA weekend is the executive producer of The Fix.

Weir hosts the debut episode of “The Fix” with the ongoing series “Accidental News.” It includes a Charlie Gibson pseudo obscenity and Weir sleeping on some stranger’s couch in Madrid. Let’s watch:

Tomorrow, Chang continues her “Juju Juggles” series which began around the time of the Inauguration. Berman, Harris and Anderson round out the week.

Interestingly, The Fix is also the name of Washington Post reporter Chris Cillizza‘s blog as well as his Twitter @thefix (currently 7,841 followers) and @TheHyperFix (3,394 followers), the less “mellow” feed of the two.

ABCNews.com’s 8.3 Million Streams

ABCLogo_1.21.jpgABC News Digital is out with its numbers for yesterday’s inauguration coverage. The network had a record 8.3 million views on ABCNEWS.com and across partner sites including Yahoo! and Verizon VCast.

ABC embedded its Charlie Gibson, Diane Sawyer, George Stephanopoulos coverage directly on the ABCNews.com homepage, the only network to do so.
