CNN’s Grant to Receive First Amendment Award

SusanGrant_3.6.jpgSusan Grant, executive vice president of CNN News Services, is being presented the First Amendment Service Award at next week’s 19th annual RTNDF First Amendment Awards dinner. Jack Womack, SVP of domestic news operations and administration for CNN/U.S. will present the award.

In her role, Grant is the executive of all of CNN’s digital and affiliate businesses.

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews is the emcee of the dinner next Thursday.

msnbc.com has unveiled a new Website for “Hardball with Chris Matthews” as well as ring tones of Chris Matthews’ signature lines, “Ha!” and “Let’s play Hardball.” The site gives easier access to the Hardblogger blog while delivering a TV-like viewing experience of clips from the show. The site also allows us bloggers to embed segments onto our Websites.

“‘Hardball’ continues to be a vital part of the American political conversation and the new Website will help heighten our profile even further and allow us to reach new and younger viewers,” says “Hardball” EP John Reiss.

NBC To Stream Convention Coverage on Mobile

The Olympics aren’t the only big event NBC is taking mobile. The network, together with its cable brethren MSNBC and CNBC, will make more than 200 hours of news coverage from the upcoming Democratic and Republican National Conventions available on its NBC News 2 Go and NBC Mobile channels, Fierce Mobile Content reports.

political parties clipart.jpgOffered through the MediaFLO mobile TV service from AT&T and Verizon Wireless, NBC 2 Go will air live daytime and primetime broadcasts from MSNBC. NBC Mobile, meanwhile, will show clips from the various channels that will be refreshed throughout the day.

Mobile coverage from both conventions will start with the 6 am broadcast of Morning Joe and continue throughout the day. Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann will start the primetime coverage at 7 pm, with anchors Brian Williams, Tom Brokaw, Andrea Mitchell, Chuck Todd, Dan Abrams and Norah O’Donnell providing coverage from the convention floors.

The Democrats meet from August 25-28; the Republicans are convening September 1-4.
