Social commerce is probably on the business minds of every retailer who want to tap into the endless opportunities of social media. According to a recent study, Facebook is not a favorite platform for social commerce, but is a favorite for those who like to shop on the internet.

According to newly released report from comScore data, professional social network Linkedin best Myspace in June regarding overall traffic. Linkedin is now the No. 2 most visited social networking site in the U.S. Of course, the increase of traffic started with LinkedIn filed its IPO in May, reaching the ultimate of 33.9 million unique visitors in June compared to Myspace with 33.5 million unique visitors.

According to a recent study by comScore, the number of campaigns lead by individual advertisers on major mobile websites has more than doubled since the year 2009. comScore measured a sample of over 600 most trafficked U.S. mobile web properties, and found out that the number of advertisers running campaigns increased from 280 in april 2009 to 689 the same month in 2011, representing a growth of 128%.
It was a December to remember for Bloomberg, as the site’s 13.7 million unique visitors for the month placed it in third on comScore‘s rankings of business and finance sites, zooming past AOL Money, MSN Money, CNN Money, Forbes, Reuters, and CNBC.
Yahoo! Finance and Dow Jones topped the list. Bloomberg tallied 9 million unique visitors in December 2009.
Bloomberg News head of global Web properties Kevin Krim told Beet.TV the media company’s goal is to build “influence,” added, “The first thing to realize about Bloomberg is that we invest in our media businesses, including our Web properties, for one primary reason: We want influence.”
Krim also said the site will remain subscription-free, Beet.TV reported.

How much online video do you watch on a daily basis? According to new data released by comScore and interpreted by NewTeeVee , the average American watched an average of 30 minutes of online video per day in October, up 40 percent from last year. But oddly enough, the total U.S. Internet audience viewing online video is down.
The inevitable finally happened, according to data from comScore, Twitter bypassed MySpace to become the world’s No. 3 social-networking-type online service, The Wall Street Journal‘s Digits reported.
Facebook topped the list for August, with 598 million unique visitors, followed by Microsoft’s Windows Live Profile, which integrates with the company’s Web-based email and other services, at more than 140 million, Digits reported.
Twitter tallied 96 million unique visitors in August, up 76 percent versus August 2009, while MySpace totaled 95 million, down 17 percent from the year-earlier period, Digits added.
MySpace spokeswoman Rosabel Tao told Digits:
Any comparisons between MySpace and other Internet services are irrelevant, as MySpace’s mix of offerings is uniquely different and specifically focused on audiences under the age of 35.
Twitter spokeswoman Carolyn Penner told Digits:
While we generally don’t comment on third-party statistics, the growth measured by others doesn’t surprise us. We’re seeing 370,000 new accounts a day.


Video portals like YouTube and Hulu seem to get all the attention but live streaming sites like Justin.tv, Livestream and USTREAM are on the rise as well. According to comScore, over the past year, live video streaming sites have seen a huge 648% growth among American audiences, while YouTube and Hulu have grown only 68% and 75%, respectively.

According to new data released by comScore, Hulu reigns supreme in the kingdom of video advertising, with 783.3 million ads viewed in July. That’s more ads than Tremor Media and BrightRoll, the second and third biggest video ad networks, combined. In fact, four out of five videos shown on Hulu is an ad. That’s great for Hulu in terms of ad revenue, but if viewers are spending all this time being forces to watch ads, how much time are they able to spend watching actual content? And how long will viewers put up with this barrage of advertising?

Meez, a web-based virtual world/online community, is drawing the best engagement rates of any virtual world in the US, according to ComScore’s June 2010 figures. The traffic measuring service reports that Meez users visit the site an impressive 203 minutes per month on average, just a few minutes behind YouTube, and sixth place in engagement overall. (Casual game site Pogo and Facebook hold the top two positions with 377 and 263 minutes, respectively.)
