Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor remained atop the Experian Hitwise rankings of cable-news-show Web sites for the week ending Feb. 12 yet again, followed by two offerings from MSNBC: Zeitgeist and The Rachel Maddow Show, respectively.
The ironic battle between Conan O’Brien and Jay Leno continued in the late-night talk-show category, as TBS’ Conan and NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno don’t seem to be able to share a top-three list. Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart remained atop the list, but Leno bumped rival Conan out of the top three, securing second place and dropping Comedy’s The Colbert Report from No. 2 to No. 3.
The top three morning-talk-show sites held steady for the fourth consecutive week: NBC’s Today, ABC’s Good Morning America, and CBS’ The Early Show.
The broadcast-network-site rankings remained unchanged: CBS, ABC, and NBC. Fox’s Glee surged to first place in the broadcast-show-site rankings, followed by previous leader and Fox sibling American Idol, and CBS’ NCIS. Fast risers on the broadcast list were CBS’ Survivor (to No. 13 from No. 23), and ABC’s Mr. Sunshine (18 from 58).
The top three cable shows were identical for the third week in a row: MTV’s Jersey Shore, Comedy’s South Park, and ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars. Fast risers were Zeitgeist (14 from 150), History’s American Pickers (19 from 32), Travel’s Ghost Adventures (21 from 37), and Lifetime Television’s Army Wives (25 from 55).
The combined broadcast and cable top three held steady for week No. 3: Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants, Jersey Shore, and South Park. Fast risers were Glee (4 from 20), and Oxygen’s Bad Girls Club (22 from 33).
Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor remained atop the Experian Hitwise rankings of cable-news-show Web sites for the week ending Feb. 5, and MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show finished second again, but MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews bumped network sibling The Last Word out of third place.
The top two late-night talk-show sites stayed the same for the third consecutive week — Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report — but the Jay Leno-Conan O’Brien controversy is still being played out on the Hitwise charts, as TBS’ Conan replaced NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in third place, reversing the previous week’s result.
The top three morning-talk-show sites were unchanged for the third straight week: NBC’s Today, ABC’s Good Morning America, and CBS’ The Early Show.
There were no changes in the broadcast rankings, as the top three network sites were once again CBS, ABC, and NBC, and the top three show sites maintained their positions: Fox’s American Idol, CBS’ NCIS, and ABC’s The Bachelor. Fast risers were ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition (to No. 4 from No. 29), and NBC’s Who Do You Think You Are (7 from 21).
The top three cable shows also held steady: MTV’s Jersey Shore, Comedy’s South Park, and ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars. FX’s Justified was the only fast riser, to No. 9 from No. 41.
Continuing the theme of the week, there were no changes in the combined broadcast and cable top three: Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants, Jersey Shore, and South Park. Fast risers were Extreme Makeover Home Edition (18 from 72), and Who Do You Think You Are (21 from 53).

For those who believe that the word “gullible” isn’t in the dictionary, Stun Creative brings you Stun Fone, a product that turns iPhones into stun guns. And if you believe that Stun Fone actually exists, I have a great deal for you on a bridge near WebNewser headquarters.
Stun Creative admitted to being the brains behind the viral campaign for the fictional Stun Fone, using a YouTube video and Twitter to promote the nonexistent product and drawing attention from media outlets including CBS News, The Wall Street Journal, Creativity, and the Los Angeles Times, as well as news organizations in Germany, Russia, Japan, Israel, and Korea.
In the video (below), an actor posing as MIT graduate Jeff Esteghlalian says he invented a “really cool accessory for the iPhone, which turns your iPhone into a stun gun with a voltage of 90,000 volts — just enough to shock someone without really hurting them.” Esteghlalian, who doesn’t exist, either, then demonstrates Stun Fone on a friend and a black-belt karate master, and then a woman zaps her boyfriend after catching him cheating.
The Stun Fone stunt wrapped up with a live press conference Friday in which Esteghlalian called out Apple chairman and CEO Steve Jobs.
When it isn’t making up iPhone accessories and promoting them, Stun Creative does serious work, including production of the launch campaign for Conan on TBS, Conan O’Brien‘s new late-night talk show.
Conan O’Brien will turn to YouTube to help promote Conan, his TBS show, which is set to debut Nov. 8, with a 24-hour live stream, The Live Coco Cam.
Conan blogger Aaron Bleyaert previewed The Live Coco Cam on the YouTube Blog:
People constantly ask me questions like, “Hey, Aaron, what’s it like to work at such an awesome show?” Or, “Hey, Aaron, what do you guys do all day in your offices?” Or even, “Aaron, you are incredibly handsome — how can one man have such stunning good looks?” The answer to that last one is simple: I moisturize.
For the answer to the first two, I invite you to tune in to the massive online comedy event we’re calling “The Live Coco Cam.” As the word “live” implies, it will be live. And as the word “Coco” implies, it will be TOTALLY AWESOME. Starting today at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT, we invite you to take a look inside the wonderfully weird offices of the brand new Conan show as we prepare for our Nov. 8 debut on TBS. We’re shoving a camera in the second-floor stairwell of our offices and will be broadcasting all of the behind-the-scenes comedy madness live for 24 hours. Here’s a taste of the crazy:
Who’s gonna show up? What’s gonna happen? As our Live Coco Cam event unfolds, all the weird, funny, and tender (yes, tender) moments will be captured and uploaded to Team Coco’s official YouTube channel so you don’t miss a second of the action. In addition, we’ll be Tweeting about the events through the day and night from our Team Coco Twitter account, and we will be recapping all the events after they happen (as well as after the event ends) over on our show blog at TeamCoco.com … That is, if I survive the next 24 hours.
