ABCNews.com Launches pre-GMA Webcast

This morning ABC’s “Good Morning America” launched what will be a daily 15-minute live webcast on the ABCNews.com homepage and “GMA” page. It’s called GMA@6:45 and streams from 6:45 to 7:00 a.m.

This web program, hosted from the GMA set in Times Square, offers a jump start on the top political stories of the day leading up to — and teasing — GMA. ABC News’ Political Director, Amy Walter is one of the hosts, and this morning ABC News’ John Berman co-hosted. Berman did his damnedest to wrap up the weekend’s political news in 60 seconds. Jonathan Karl then came on to talk in depth about them: shady fundraising, Obama campaigning, and Tea Party news.

Berman also took viewers for a walk into the GMA control room — “On the Internet, we have to walk backwards” — used the iPad to show a Kentucky Senate campaign ad, and had a special appearance from George Stephanopoulos.

Dan Harris, Bianna Golodryga, Juju Chang, and Ron Claiborne will be part of a rotating co-host team. If you’re a political junky this is a a quick, entertaining look at the state of midterms now just a week away. Here’s the first episode:

NBC Launches “BriTunes,” Featuring Brian Williams

britunes_5-11.jpgWhat do you get when you combine a news anchor and an A&R? NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams‘ new Web series, “BriTunes.”

Launched today, the site features Williams interviewing the Brooklyn group Deer Tick and, well, music.

Williams explains the concept:

Okay, so I didn’t name this thing, but I did come up with the idea. I have always loved identifying good music and good groups — discovering them early (bar bands are best) and following them through their journey. While we’ll interview some established musicians, mostly I’d like this to be a place where people can sample some of the great music being created every day, by talented musicians who wouldn’t dream of doing anything else.

> Update: Dan Harris, host of the similarly-themed “Amplified,” on ABC News has some advice for his new indie music news Website competitor. “Having covered indie rock here on Amplified for the last five months, I welcome Mr. Williams to the game,” writes Harris today. After five tips for the NBC anchor, Harris gave his nod of approval: “Seriously, Brian, it’s great you’re doing this. The recession is hitting indie music hard. There’s an enormous amount of talented bands out there. Attention from someone of your stature can only help.”

“The Fix” is in at ABC….and WaPo Too

ABC News is expanding its digital only content with the launch of The Fix. The Web show features ABC News correspondents/anchors John Berman, Juju Chang, Dan Harris and Bill Weir, and ESPN’s John Anderson. Andrew Morse, who is also EP of GMA weekend is the executive producer of The Fix.

Weir hosts the debut episode of “The Fix” with the ongoing series “Accidental News.” It includes a Charlie Gibson pseudo obscenity and Weir sleeping on some stranger’s couch in Madrid. Let’s watch:

Tomorrow, Chang continues her “Juju Juggles” series which began around the time of the Inauguration. Berman, Harris and Anderson round out the week.

Interestingly, The Fix is also the name of Washington Post reporter Chris Cillizza‘s blog as well as his Twitter @thefix (currently 7,841 followers) and @TheHyperFix (3,394 followers), the less “mellow” feed of the two.
