Drop.io Releases Present.io For Doing Real-Time Web-Based Presentations

Drop.io has been very busy lately, and its latest release is designed for web collaborations. Present.io uses drop.io’s real-time XMPP media sharing foundation in order to provide real-time, web-based presentations in a very simple interface and process.

What makes this so simple? No downloads, no installations. Just sign on, invite others to join you, and you’re all set to go. Drop.io will give you a custom URL where you can select “presentation mode” in order to get started. As the presenter, you’ll be able to run your presentation as with most other web demo products.

Drop.io Makes Voicemail, Podcasting Easier with Phone.io

This morning Drop.io revealed another feature set to its web-based file sharing service. Called phone.io, the applet works by providing voice-related options for drop.io users. In doing so, users are now more easily able to leave voicemails, podcasts and other audio message files in their accounts.

One of phone.io’s most appealing use-case options is for voicemail messages, which seems to be building off of drop.io’s recently added conference call capabilities. With phone.io one can leave a voicemail message for themselves or other users, which can then be downloaded, embedded or shared across the social web. There are one-click sharing options for creating voicemail or podcasts in real time, with sharing options for iTunes, RSS, email, Twitter, and Facebook to name a few.

Drop.io Launches Playlist Applet for Easy Listening

Drop.io is all about file-storage, sharing and making these easier tasks. Taking advantage of the cloud, Drop.io has build a new applet that makes it drop-dead simple to create a playlist that can be accessed via the web, anywhere and anytime. The new feature, rightly titled playlist.io, lets you take songs from your computer and add them to a playlist with a few clicks. This works with your iTunes songs as well.

Once you’ve created a playlist, you’re able to pull up your playlist.io on any computer or compatible mobile device that’s able to access the web. Music from existing Drop.io folders can also be added to your playlist, with drag-n-drop capabilities. As with anything sent to your Drop.io account, a playlist can be made private or can be shared with privacy settings.

Drop.io Adds Firefox Plugin for Fast Facebook-Sharing

Drop.io has a new Firefox browser plugin that makes i even easier to share files with friends and, more specifically, with friends on Facebook. With the new plugin, you can create new drops from items you find from across the web.

It’s got a convenient drag’n'drop option for text, links, files and HTML that you’d like to share, as well as drag’n'drop tabs to the drop.io logo for creating a link to that particular tab in that drop. You can even continually drag’n'drop files to the same drop or different drops, even while other files are uploading. Drop.io has also added some keyboard shortcuts to make the sharing process even simpler: hit control + shift + D in order to create a drop.io link to the tab you’re currently viewing.
