Has Facebook Killed Email? [Infographic]

These days, if I meet a new friend we add each other to Facebook. If the person is particularly fascinating, I try to get their Twitter. If it’s a work colleague, I ask them to link me on LinkedIn. Email is an afterthought. But Visible Gains has done some work to really figure out the answer to the tough question — is email dead?
The town hall meeting was held Tuesday night as a phone-in and social media debate about the “paralysis and uncertainty” he says is being brought about by the high levels of political internal strife in Washington.

Is Facebook Really a Good Lead Cultivation Environment?

I know, I know: I’ve been a bit pessimistic about Facebook marketing lately. The reason for this, frankly, is because so many people do it ineffectively. They seem to think there is inherent value in social media engagement. Well, the cold, hard truth of the matter is that there isn’t. There’s no inherent value in any form of marketing. At the end of the day, everything we do should be measurable, and what sucks should be cut. Part of this process is figuring out if you’re using your tools appropriately.

Scam Alert: Don’t Trust Emails From Apple About iPhone5

Fraudulent emails have started surfacing that announce the imminent availability of the new iPhone 5GS from coming Friday. These emails are part of a new wave of phishing scams and are likely to be an attempt to hack Apple IDs and passwords.

The Apple ID of a user is his/her core identity in the eyes of Apple Inc, and any cyber criminal can get to enjoy all the services that Apple has to offer on your behalf. The hacker would have unlimited access to all of user apps and can utilize the user’s money (which is some cases is a lot) to buy new ones.

Making Message Convergence Work For Your Business

This is the conclusion of guest blogger Carrie Scott’s exploration of message convergence. Scott is Director of Product Marketing at Message Systems, Inc. She writes on marketing topics at the Message Exchange blog and dispenses shopping wisdom on her personal blog, Smart Woman $$ave.

In yesterday’s post I discussed how new mobile communication capabilities brought about by smartphones and wireless networks are changing customer expectations about when and how they should be engaged. I wove the story around my experience with retailers that I interact with frequently, but it’s important to note that the brand-customer relationship is changing across all kinds of vertical industries: banks and financial services, healthcare, media and publishing, and many more. This holds true for interactions that happen in a sales or marketing context, as well as interactions happening in a customer service or support context.

I like to shop.

More than that, I like to find bargains for high-end designer clothes and handbags that I might not easily afford if I had to pay full retail. So I subscribe to a lot of the online closeout retailers that feature designer products at discount prices – sites like Rue La La, Gilt Groupe, Ideeli, Hautelook and several others.

Accelerate Results: 5 Secrets to Achieving Organic Social Media Growth

We all love organic growth. When you accumulate corporate blog readers, Twitter followers or Facebook likes over time through relationships among your readers, the results are indisputable. But, it feels like it takes forever. While you wait, you are losing ROI opportunities. Accumulating the relationships you want most thus comes at a significantly higher cost. Waiting sucks. It’s far better to put the pedal to the metal and make it all happen faster, right?

Follower, Fan or Subscriber: Who's a Better "Friend" to a Brand?

Twitter or Facebook? Many brand marketers seem to go back and forth on this as if these are the only social media platform choices. Further, they may forget that there are other proven digital marketing tools that not only can be used in conjunction with brands’ social media marketing, these vehicles are increasingly adding new social media integration functions.

Report: Social Media Users Are More Likely To Check Email

A new white paper, published by Merkle Inc., suggests that social media users are more likely to check their email inboxes than people who do not use social media. The study, conducted in Fall 2009, had several interesting findings. While many reports have suggested that Facebook and other social networks are replacements to email, this report would suggest that users are much more likely to use both products together.
