New App Lets You Track Your Party Guests’ Locations In Real Time

We have all been there, trying to organize a social or business event and coordinating where and when to meet up. Would real-time location-based event planning make it easier to schedule business meetings, coordinate road trips with friends, or find parents at soccer games and swim meets? If you answered yes, then you might want to look at the release of Syncuz, the first map-based messaging app for iPhone and Android.

Privacy Snafu: 1,400 Facebookers Show Up For Girl’s Birthday Party [Video]

In Germany, a Facebook privacy snafu brought 1,400 people to a 16-year old girl’s birthday party. When the girl, Tessa, created the event on Facebook she made the mistake of listing her private party as a public event. According to an Al Jazeera report, within hours of the event being posted over 15,000 people had already RSVP’d “attending.” Despite the fact that a cancellation notice was sent out, over 1,400 people still showed up, although Tessa was nowhere to be found.

Social Gaming Summit 2010: Building Social Games For Your Platform

Jeff Cook, founder of MyYearBook, showcased MyYearBook as an up and coming social network and a place to meet new people. Founded 5 yrs ago, the social platform has grown to 80 employees and generating roughly $20 million revenue a year. Standing in stark contrast to Facebook where users are bound by their real social graph, MyYearBook will focus on content discovery, user compatibility, dynamic stream interactions and opening its doors for social games. Will it prevail?

66 Percent Of Facebook Traffic Is To Games

At the Inside Social Apps conference today in San Francisco, a number of leading social game executives participated in a discussion about the “Future of Facebook as a social gaming platform”. While there were a number of takeaways, the most significant statistic that many attendees found to be interesting was that two-thirds of Facebook’s page views are within games. This was an approximate estimate put forth by one of the panelists, to which Peter Relan, the CEO of Crowstar jokingly responded that those page views are evenly split between Zynga’s FarmVille and Cafe World.

Can MySpace Events Help Turn The Company Around?

Last night MySpace unveiled a new events page, integrating close to 1 million concert listings and links to purchase tickets, providing the company with another potential revenue stream. It’s a great product roll out, however the odds are against the social networking behemoth who has seen traffic consistently slide over the past year.
