NIke+ GPS for iPhone App Free for a Limited Time

The iPhone may only be heading towards it fourth birtday, but Nike’s Nike+ is turning five years old. Nike temporarily dropped the price of its iPhone app from $1.99 to free as party of the anniversary.

The Nike+ GPS app does not need the shoe sensor that was designed to work with early versions of the iPod nano. It can record your pace, measure distance run and track your route. Voice feedback is available during a run as is a map with your current location.

You can share your running data with the community on the Nike+ site as well as Facebook and Twitter.

Note that you will need a relatively recent generation iOS device to use with the app. The Nike+ GPS app is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPod touch (2nd, 3rd, and 4th generations) running iOS 4.0 or later.

Fitness Taps Christie Griffin from Cosmopolitan as Digital Director

Christie Griffin left the world of fashion for the world of Fitness, joining the magazine as digital director after serving as senior Web editor for Cosmopolitan.

At Meredith-owned Fitness, she will oversee editorial efforts and help to execute brand strategy across all digital platforms, including mobile, apps, and tablet editions.

While at Cosmopolitan, she led editorial efforts to relaunch the Web site in 2007, and Griffin was part of the team that created Cosmo Mobile. Prior to that, she was a Web editor at CosmoGirl.
