Tumblr Launches Promoted Posts on Mobile (SocialTimes)
Tumblr will begin delivering promoted posts to its mobile users as well as its desktop users, the company said on Monday. “It works very simply: Every now and then you’ll see posts from our partners as you scroll through your mobile Dashboard,” the company said in a blog post.

Psy? Who’s that? Almost as quickly as the K-Pop star rose to fame, it seems that the world has forgotten all about Psy and his massive YouTube hit, Gangnam Style. Although the video currently stands at almost 1.5 billion views on YouTube, the song is no longer heard on the radio, at parties, or in parodies and new YouTube integration in Google Trends reveals that Gangnam Style really is dying. That’s news that certainly doesn’t call for an “Oppa!”

Yesterday during Google’s fourth-quarter earnings call, Nikesh Arora, Google’s Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer, revealed that 2012 was a massively successful year for YouTube on multiple fronts. Not only did viewers begin watching 4 billion hours of video a month, but Arora reported that “our top 25 advertisers are now spending average of over $150 million per year.”

With over 990 million views, it’s looking more and more likely that Psy’s Gangnam Style is going to hit 1 billion views tomorrow, December 21, 2012, a day that many also believe to be the end of the world. While anticipation for Psy’s 1 billion views has overcome end of the world fears for many, one YouTube video sheds new light on the issue and purports that, perhaps, Gangnam Style’s new YouTube record will actually be the catalyst that leads to the ultimate demise of the human race.
