Cut the Rope has been a popular paid game (99 cents for the iPhone version, $1.99 for the iPad) on the iPhone and iPad. It is now available for free (advertisement supported) exclusively at GetJar.

I took a quick look at the Android Market and Amazon AppStore to confirm that the game is not available from either source.

Cut the Rope is an addictive, physics-based game that appeals to all ages. Om Nom, the adorable and ravenous little green monster, has one passion – candy! Players must cut an increasingly complicated series of ropes to release candy into the mouth of Om Nom, while capturing a series of stars on the way down, in this highly innovative and stimulating puzzle game that combines outstanding physics, 175 tricky levels, and fun, colorful, high-definition visuals.

You may not have heard of GetJar. However, it is one of the oldest mobile app stores still in business. It was found in Lithuania in 2004 and claims to have had nearly 2 billion downloads so far. It distributes apps for Android, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile (not Windows Phone) and Symbian.

Battle of the Indie App Stores: GetJar Ejects Opera Mini

Opera just announced that it will be launching a mobile app store of its own that will feature around 140,000 free and paid apps for mobile platforms like Android and BlackBerry. The folks at Opera might not have even taken a breather from pushing this news out to thousands of media publications and we are hearing chatter that GetJar, one of the largest independent app store has ejected Opera Mini from its store.
