The online game publishing platform Heyzap has been making strides in the social gaming space, establishing partnerships with platforms and brands to help distribute their games on the social web. To boost their efforts, Heyzap has raised a $3m round of funding, led by Union Square Ventures that it will use to continue to grow their team and increase business development efforts. This is Heyzap’s second funding round after its first round of 650K in 2009 also by Union Square Ventures.

DinglePharb Studios is a new gaming studio dedicated to social games, and they’ve partnered with social games platform provider HeyZap to bring their premiere title to Facebook. Entitled “Wold Town”, the game is an MMO set in a fantasy universe where players are able to take the role of dragons who live, interact, play games and buy stuff. The game is still in closed Beta but will be released soon.

Heyzap is a service that allows game developers to take their Facebook games and port them to other networks across the web, thereby increasing their potential userbase. The service works by asking games to connect to an intermediate Heyzap layer that is able to communicate with various social networks and websites. This way, the game becomes portable to various networks with a minimal amount of code change.
