PopBooth for iPhone 4 Simulates Photo Booth Experience & Can Ship Photo Strips for $2.99

popbooth_1107

PopBooth is a free iPhone app that simulates the experience of taking a quick series of photos (often goofy looking) in a photo booth. It takes four photos using the iPhone 4′s front-facing camera and then lets you apply one of five filters (normal, black & white, colorz, 1985 and hipster).

The photo strips can be shared via Facebook or email. However, the real interesting twist is that you can also have Sincerely Inc. (PopBooth’s developer) print and ship two sets of the strips to you. It can also ship a photo strip to anywhere in the world for $2.99.

Purchases are not available as in-app purchases because, as Sincerely Inc. notes, Apple currently prohibits in-app payments for physical goods

Pioneer Brings iPhone Apps to the Car Dashboard

pioneer_200

Pioneer has introduced AppRadio, an in-car entertainment system capable of integrating and displaying iPhone apps on its screen. AppRadio is basically a 6.1-inch multi-touch display with WVGA (800×480) resolution designed to be mounted and completely integrated to your car. It can be viewed as a secondary peripheral display for the iPhone 4 apps. Before the apps could run on the AppRadio they need to be adjusted to be rendered on the secondary screen. This is normally a simple task that many developers could probably finish in a couple of days.

Big Brother Camera Security: Take Photos of People Messing With Your iPhone 4

bbsecuritycam15

Here’s a clever free app for the iPhone that is very interesting despite a big hole that the developer points out himself.

Big Brother Camera Security

The app uses the front facing camera of an iPhone 4, 4th generation iPod touch or iPad 2 to take a photo of the person holding the device when a passcode is entered. This happens whether the code is entered correctly or not. An email is sent with geo-location information and a photo of the person who used the app.

The hole in the system is lock code only locks the app and not the entire iOS device. Tapping the device’s select button bounces out of the app. However, the app takes a photo on its way out and sends that information to the owner via email. The bigger hole is that you need to remember to leave the app running in order for it to do its work. Putting these two issues aside, the app’s price is right: Free. And, I hope Apple considers integrating some of its features as part of its own lock screen and Mobile Me Find My iPhone service.
