Seattle P-I columnist Joel Connelly calls what is happening today “a journalism adventure.” Seattle’s oldest newspaper, in fact its oldest business, ran out of time, money and luck on this St. Patrick’s Day as it prints its final edition and goes online only.

Hearst announced that it would stop publishing the 146-year old newspaper which lost $14 million last year.

The NYTimes reports the P-I “will resemble a local Huffington Post more than a traditional newspaper, with a news staff of about 20 people rather than the 165 it had.”
