Monetization solutions provider Super Rewards announced its partnership to provide four key MMO publishers with monetization solutions for their current games. The publishers, NHN USA, Gala-Net, OGPlanet and OnNet USA will using the full breadth of Super Rewards solutions to monetize their users. Super Rewards was selected on the basis of their strengths in fraud, customer service, multitude of monetization options including offers and display ads and their accuracy in providing the right offer to the MMO players at the right time.

Large game developers have trouble finding successes the way early social gaming companies like Playdom and even some casual companies like PopCap have had. Ubisoft is a good example of a traditional game developer that delved into the murky waters of social gaming with poor quality titles in the past. Their latest title, however, is a fantastically made, high-quality sim wine-farming game called Vineyard Country which, despite struggling with performance, should motivate other mainstream players to take the social gaming space more seriously.

Branded accessories, merchandise and toys are common, even for virtual worlds, as Club Penguin has shown in the past. How about children’s books? Mind Candy, the makers of Moshi Monsters, announced their partnership with Penguin Books to spin out a series of children’s books based on the children-focused virtual world. The white label application builder and social gaming company LOLapps has been relatively quiet during an onslaught of game launches on Facebook from veteran and indie developers. Having achieved profitability last year, LOLapps has provided a suite of tools over the past 18 months that allow users to create quiz and gift-based apps. LOLapps is also a strong player in the social RPG space, partnering with IP companies such as EA and Modelina, which we covered here, to launch and maintain branded games. The two most notable mobile payment companies in the social gaming industry, Boku and Zong, announced their support for the Android OS yesterday morning. The payment platforms will allow Android users to purchase items in-apps without leaving the app’s environment. This should be beneficial to both developers and consumers in America as well as the international arena because it streamlines the accessibility to payments without compromising user experience. A panel gathered yesterday evening at Pillsbury’s office to discuss the legal issues surrounding social games among other issues. Pillsbury is a full-service law firm with one of its specializations being virtual worlds and currencies. The panel was comprised of Jeremey Liew of Lightspeed Venture Partners, Jim gate from Pillsbury, Keith McCurdy, and Phil Sanderson, Managing Director, IDG Ventures SF.
