Zong

Zong, one of the major players in mobile payment systems, has now expanded its payment platform to almost all smartphones and mobile devices. The Zong payment platform that was previously available only for HTML and Android based devices can now be integrated with any environment, including Flash, Unity, Interactive TV, gaming consoles, and the mobile web.

Sage Payment Solutions, the payments division for Sage North America, has launched Sage Mobile Payments service that allows small businesses to expand their payment options by credit and debit cards on mobile devices. Sage’s solution is usable across 400 different mobile phones and wireless computing devices and across all major carriers in the US.

Stream Media, a Singapore based mobile payment startup, has announced that it has successfully raised S$1 million in Series A funding from Stream Global and Sintel Innov8. Stream Media flagship product is MoVend, a global platform for mobile in-app transactions.

O2 UK, one of the top mobile carrier in UK, will be launching mobile wallet service by July 2011. The wallet will have a host of contactless mobile payment options and will use NFC (near field communication) technology.

Ericsson has announced that it will be launching a mobile banking service that will allow users to make credit card like payments, and person-to-person money transfers. Ericsson, the world’s largest telecom vendor, expects the mobile financial services sector to become a $27.7 billion market in terms of revenues by 2015.

If you’re addicted to Starbucks and have an iPhone, you can now pay for your caffeine-related purchases through the company’s iPhone app. Called Starbucks Card Mobile, the app has actually been in limited availability since last Fall at 16 standalone stores, and now lets you pay for cafe purchases at over 1,000 Starbucks-within-Target locations in [...]

Mobile payments platform Zong has processed transactions for 10 million unique users in 2009 alone. That’s quite a milestone for less than a year of operations, and it really speaks to the widespread growth of mobile payments for virtual goods and other commerce exchanges.

Available in 19 countries across 100 carriers, Zong is also announcing new carrier partners in Eastern Europe, Russia, Southeast Asia and South America. That gives Zong a significant amount of growth potential as it looks to dominate the market for mobile payments.
